1. How much manual labor can I save with the AI hoe?
Up to 90% of manual hoeing is eliminated. A 6-row machine can replace up to 60 workers – depending on the crop and the crop.
2. How does VarioCHOP AI work?
A camera is located above each row to detect the plant. A 3D camera also measures the height. The hydraulic lateral shift automatically adjusts to the average of all rows. The camera sends the signal to open and close the hoe blades, depending on the driving speed. The height is individually adjusted for each row via an electric motor. No calibration required – select the crop, attach it, and get started.
3. Does the system also work at night or in poor light?
Yes. Thanks to integrated flashlights and LED lighting, plant detection works in any position of the sun, even at night.
4. Which cultures are supported?
Currently: sugar beets, pumpkin, corn, onions, garlic, cabbage, peanuts, rice, vegetables, lettuce, and around 80 other crops, including many herbs. New crops can be trained within a few hours.
5. How quickly does the system learn a completely new culture?
It usually takes about 6 hours – from the first camera scan to the ready-to-use AI model.
6. How does the AI know where it is allowed to hack?
The camera captures multiple images per plant, detects the root position, and opens or closes the blades up to 3 times per second – precisely and safely.
7. How do I adjust the chopping depth and blade times?
Very easy using the supplied tablet or an Android device: Working depth, opening and closing points can be adjusted with just a few clicks.
8. What happens if I have different row spacings, about 50 and 75 cm?
No problem – the system can be adjusted continuously and flexibly starting at 23 cm row spacing. All units are easily movable. Within an hour, you can switch from, for example, 0,5 to 50 cm.
9. Does my tractor need to have GPS or ISOBUS?
Not essential. GPS is helpful, but not necessary. Power can also be supplied directly from the battery.
10. How many rows can I work on at the same time?
From 1 to 16 rows, everything is possible – including customized row spacing. We configure the machine according to your requirements.
11. Can I also hoe between the rows?
Yes. There are two options: in-row only or in-row + between rows – for full-surface treatment.
12. What if my field is on a slope?
Each unit controls its height independently, allowing for consistent tillage even on slopes.
13. How robust is the system when dealing with a lot of weeds or difficult crops?
Very robust. Even in dense weeds, irregular crops, or overgrowth, the AI reliably detects crops and works precisely.
14. What about service and support?
We offer personal support, remote support via the Internet, and are reliably available even during the season.
15. How do I benefit economically from the system?
Less manual labor, no herbicides, lower labor costs: Even with just a few hectares of land, you can save several thousand euros per year.
16. I also see a lot of Ullmanna hoeing machines, is yours the same?
